Patna Metro – Lifeline to the city

Patna Metro: Being the capital of Bihar, Patna is one of the most crowded cities in the state, suffer from a lot of traffic jams during its peak hour. The number of a vehicle is increasing day by day with the number of people from outside of the city. People from all over the state are trying to make their living in the capital for better facilities are making this city more crowded.

Meanwhile, due to lack of widening roads and public transports people of the city are using their personal vehicles which make roads more crowded and we do face a lot of traffic during office hours. At the same time, the number of an auto rickshaw is uncountable and they are the major role player for the traffic jams. But wait, they also play a major role in the day-to-day life of the city, because they are the lifeline of the road for the middle-class family and the students in the city.

Why we need Metro Train?

There are several reasons that we need metro in our city, some of the major reasons are as follows:

  • It will become the lifeline for the mass of the city.
  • Public transport in the city will become convenient.
  • This will reduce the traffic load on the roads.
  • Mass people will reach their destination in time.
  • Metro will make the city life fast and will save time.
Patna Metro Route

Metro in Patna will pass through various stoppage at major places of the city. There will be three phases, in which route of the Patna metro will be developed. Overall of 36km of the route will be developed in the first phase named as Route 1A, 1B and 2. Below we will discuss the route and its major stoppage.  Let’s check out which metro station will be near you. Two of the major corridor will be started in the first phase of the metro are as follows.

Phase 1 Route

Route 1 A

In phase 1, the 1A route of the metro will start from Danapur to Mithapur/Bypass covering the distance of 14.5 km touching the major stations like RPS More, Bailey Road, High Court, Dakbunglow, and Patna Junction. The Patna metro route will be an elevated line from Danapur to RPS More. Then it will be underground to Patna Junction, again it will be elevated from Patna Station to Bypass Chowk.

Route 1 B

Digha-High Court Link (5.5Km) merging at High Court with Corridor 1A and further going up to Mithapur via Patna Railway Station elevated along the railway siding from Digha to Shivpuri and further underground up to High court.

Route 2

Patna Railway Station to Dak Bungalow Chowk to Proposed ISBT via Gandhi Maidan, Medical College. Rajendra Nagar Railway Station, Agamkuan/Gandhi Setu (16Km).

Phase 2 Route

Route 3

Saguna More, Mithapur Chowk – Lohia Nagar – Kankarbagh – Income Tax Colony – Zero Mile – Choti Pahari – Ranipur – Ranipur Chak – Check Post – Guru Ka Bagh – Didarganj.

Phase 3 Route

Route 4

Bypass Chowk – Patna Junction – Jay Prakash Nagar – Dasratha – Setu Nagar – Chitkohra – Patna Secretariat – Anishabad – Haroon Nagar (khoja Imli) – Patna Airport- Phulwari Sharif – Hadaspura – Nosha – AIIMS Patna -Kurji.

The Project will be based on Public-Private Partnership. The Centre would provide 20% of the cost as Viability Gap Fund while the state government would spend a similar sum depending upon the final estimate of the project. The remaining amount would be borne by the private company involved in the construction of the Metro Rail. The project’s total cost would be about ₹10000-₹15000 Crore.
