 The Pump Mounted Driver ( PMD ) sometimes called a Fuel Solenoid driver ( FSD ) located in the HOT engine valley on the injection pump is not the best place for a sensitive electronic injection module, and why we invented and designed our PDC (Pump Driver Cooler) /  PDC/PMD Remote Package.

  The PMD (aka FSD) is the most common part to fail on the GM 6.5 Diesels, and they fail due to heat!  

 Our Pump Driver Cooler ( PDC ) was designed for 1994 to 2000+ GM 6.5 Liter Diesel and Turbo Diesel / turbodiesel engines to allow the PMD/FSD to be mounted away from the hot engine to stop chronic PMD/FSD failures from heat. Our product is designed to be Very Easy to install, basically; you unplug your old PMD (PMD stays in place) and connect that plug to the Remote Harness and then mount the PDC unit on the firewall via some screws or fasteners, and that's about it! = EASY!

• The PDC ( pump driver cooler ) reduces damaging temperatures on the PMD ( pump mounted driver ) aka FSD ( fuel solenoid driver )
   
• Allows PMD to be mounted away from the Hot Engine Valley area. Extensive testing with thermal, infra-red and other High-Tech testing equipment has shown that for optimal PMD cooling the unit must be off and away from the hot engine, of which also common sense would indicate, so be wary of any sites stating that engine mounted PMD coolers are OK.

•  NOTE:  Many factory injection pump wiring harnesses are just too short when used with the aftermarket remote PMD mounts that mount on top of the HOT engine.  Sometimes cutting the harness covering to gain added length will work but this is not advisable as there is still strain on the vehicle wiring harness.  Our system is Highly Recommended because of our special PMD Remote Harness allows the original harness to remain intact without alteration and will not have any stress & strain created by pulling to try to make it reach as with many other aftermarket coolers. 
   
•  Our PDC/PMD Remote unit can be mounted so the 'TURBO POWER' cover could be reinstalled, if desired. Better injection pump cooling may result from leaving this cover off if PMD unit is mounted under it, however our testing (and that of others) has indicated there is little difference in temp with cover on.
   
•  Excellent thermal transfer properties of our Exclusive Heat Sink design and Special Thermal Transfer Pad allows smaller size than other similar products.  We thoroughly tested from 1-1/2 to 2 times larger and no difference in effectiveness and temp of PMD unit, in fact we find our unit's high quality materials and smaller size is still more effective!
   
•  PMD / FSD mounts properly in the center of our PDC (cooler) for correct and evenly distributed heat transfer; as per expert heat sink manufacturers.  Other products where the PMD mounts off center often results in in uneven cooling, be sure avoid any product like that!
   
•  The PDC/PMD Remote Package does not require a cooling fan, and other products with a cooling fan are NOT advisable, because their PC type cooling fans usually do not hold up well under the hostile underhood environment with heat, oil, fuel, road salts, dirt and moisture and other elements.
   
•  PMD / FSD mounts where the PDC's fins run the length of the transistors and not across them. This feature is also different than another similar product.
   
•  Our Thermal Transfer Pad that far exceeds quality OEM materials, and cut for proper fit.
•  Thermal Transfer Pad does NOT have cutouts over the PMD / FSD transistors, like the original manufacturer design, and heat is correctly transferred as it should be, unlike the way it would be with the areas cutout as is sold with some 'competing' 'coolers'.  This was confirmed as the correct way to remove heat as per the experts in the thermal transfer industry that serves both the computer and automotive industries. 
  Update: OEM replacement PMDs now come with transfer material without cutouts now, but still of the thin and less effective materials.
   
•  Heat sink compound or gel is NOT the best idea in this application as has been proven by the experts, it is simply too thin as too much oozes out when PMD/FSD is torqued to specifications, besides not offering enough heat transfer, therefore we use a Special Thermal Transfer Pad Material.
