1997+ Dual Thermostat Cooling Upgrade

In 1997 GM upgraded the stock cooling system to a dual thermostat and hi-flow cooling system.  This helps to reduce some cooling problems experienced by the 6.5TD.  These parts can be fit to older 6.5TDs.

Some modification to existing parts is required to install these parts, such as cutting the "turbo power" cover for fit if used, and some grinding of the new parts may be required for clearance of other parts.  On 1993 models the cruise control and throttle brackets etc. require fabrication.  Other minor things may be need to accomplish this task.

A nine blade fan was also added in 1997 and does little for added cooling and mainly just reduces noise.

For our recommended method of added cooling see WATER Mist Injection

The parts include:

These kits use top quality parts and are available from us at this time, also the 1997+ version fan and clutch as well.

Due to the intense labor to install versus minor gains for the $,  We recommend doing this upgrade only if you need a new water pump, otherwise much smarter to go WATER Mist Injection first.
